The host Lady Knights took the county meeting by a 15-4 margin.
Both teams were back in action on Tuesday with Henryetta traveling to Bristow and Okmulgee going to Holdenville for a 3-way battle with Beggs and Holdenville.
In Monday’s county battle in Henryetta, the Lady Bulldogs opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first on a 2-run home run by Mariya Tecumseh.
The Lady Knights answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning on a 3-run home run by Ailanee Hicks for a 3-2 advantage after one inning of action.
The Okmulgee ladies knotted the score at 3-3 with a run in the top of the second on an RBI single by Gabby Garcia, then regained the lead at 4-3 in the top of the third on a solo home run by Tori James.
The Henryetta squad took over the lead at 5-4 in the bottom of the third on a 2-run home run by Winter Beaver, then plated 10 runs in their half of the fourth to end the game on the run rule, 15-4. The highlight of the 10-run fourth for the Lady Knights came on Hicks’ second 3-run home run of the contest that gave Henryetta an 8-4 advantage.
McKayla Greenhaw was the top hitter for the Lady Knights in the county battle, going 4 for 4 with a pair of singles and two doubles.
Beaver added a pair of singles to her 2-run home run to finish 3 for 3 at the plate. Shelby Kilhoffer also went 3-for-3 at the plate for Henryetta in the season opener with a pair of singles, a double, and an RBI.
Hicks was the only other Lady Knight with a multi-hit game on Monday with her two roundtrippers.
The final three Henryetta base hits against Okmulgee came on singles by Kinley Miller and Chloe Swearingen and an RBI single by Kassidy Lee.
James and Tecumseh added singles to their home runs to both finish 2 for 2 at the plate for the Lady Bulldogs.
Mercedes Cloud also went 2-for-2 at the plate for Okmulgee with a pair of singles.
Besides Garcia’s RBI single in the second, the other base hits for the Lady Bulldogs came on singles by Natori Yates and Nicole Warren.
