Folk’s, those good hearted bikers did it again! They call themselves Americas Guardian. They came pulling in on those beautiful bikes in the parking lot near the sunroom here in our building. Came in with big smiles and many wonderful Bingo prizes. And, the fun began. They know how to do it up right. We all left with big smiles on our faces, and those good prizes. Then, they always bring a bag of goodies so no one goes back empty handed. Yes, sir, we always look forward to them coming.

Excuse me while I again tell you about the many birds that visit my feeders. And I spend more feeding them at times than I do feeding myself. Now, I must admit that son of mine has kept them fed and happy all winter. The birds and I thank him. What makes my day is when sixteen Mourning Doves come flying in and have their fill. They are all rather small and the same color. I kept wondering if they are brothers and sisters. Then did a bit of checking and learned a female lays only two eggs. So, I suppose they are cousins. What I found amazing, they eat up to 20% of their body weight, daily. And, they mate for life. And, listen to this. They swallow those seeds and store them in an enlargement of the esophagus called the crop. Once they’ve filled it, they can fly to a safe perch and digest the meal. Now, that is possibly more than you ever wanted to know about Mourning Doves. Boy howdy, on that day it was warm enough to walk outside, guess what I saw! The daffodils are up and about five or six inches tall. The old fashion jonquils were even taller. I stood there in amazement! They had slipped upon me when I was not looking. He said, “I am finally old enough to do anything I want. And now I am too tired to actually do it.” She said, “I am so old that I’ve actually dialed a rotary phone before while listening to an 8 track, next to a black and white TV with aluminum foil on top of its rabbit ear antennas!”
