The season-ending losses came to the Berryhill Chiefs and Maidens in the consolation semifinals of the Class 3A, Area I, regional tournament.
The Lady Demons began Friday’s loser’s bracket action with a 41-24 loss to the Maidens, while the Demons had their cage season end in the following contest, ending up on the short end of a 73-56 decision to the Chiefs.
In last Friday’s girls elimination game, the Lady Demons trailed 9-6 after the first eight minutes. The Beggs squad was held without any points in the second stanza, being outscored 15-0 in the frame to go into halftime down by a 24-6 margin.
The visitors took the third period by a narrow 10-8 advantage, while the Lady Demons were only able to manage a 10-7 margin in the final quarter to suffer the season-ending loss, 41-24.
The trio of Destiny Clay, Angel Aylor, and Tessa Christy were tops offensively for Beggs with five points apiece. Bleu Hall and Konner Stanton were next in the scoring column for the Lady Demons with three points each, followed by Alyssa Antwine, Payton Crook, and Kennedy Brooke with one point apiece.
In last Friday’s boys loser’s bracket contest, the visitors took the first period by an 18-12 margin, then both teams tallied 13 points in the second frame to send the contest to the intermission with the Demons still trailing by six, 31-25.
Berryhill came out of the final two quarters with margins of 22-14 and 22-17, respectively, to hand the Beggs gentlemen the season-ending setback, 73-56.
Rickey Smith led the way offensively for the Demons with a team-best 15 points. Ashwynn Goudeau (14), Jaxon Remington (11), and Ezrah Anderson (10) also finished in double figures for Beggs in the season-ending loss.
The Demon scoring was rounded out by Jaylen Williams with four and Brayden King two.
