The visiting Henryetta cage squads emerged from Tuesday’s county roundball meeting with a pair of double-digit victories. The Lady Knights earned their fourth win of the season in Tuesday’s opening contest with a 43-22 victory, while the Knights completed the sweep by taking the nightcap by a 5643 margin.
Both county teams will be back in action Friday with Henryetta traveling to Okemah for its regular-season finale, while Beggs will host Okmulgee in its second county battle of the week.
The Demons and Lady Demons will close out the week with a trip to Preston Saturday for a showdown with their arch rivals, the Preston Pirates and Lady Pirates.
In Tuesday’s girls county battle in Beggs, the Lady Knights led 8-1 after one and 21-1 at halftime.
The host Lady Demons doubled up their county foes 12-6 in the third period to send the contest into the final eight minutes of regulation with Henryetta leading by 14 points, 27-13.
The Lady Knights finished the 21-point victory by edging the Beggs ladies 16-9 in the final frame.
McKayla Greenhaw was the leading scorer for Henryetta on Tuesday, finishing with a game-high 17 points. Graci Lollis also reached double figures for the Lady Knights in the county battle with 12 points.
The remaining scorers for Henryetta against Beggs were Sutv Harjo with six, Brooklyn Baughman four, and Kassidy Lee and Serenity Rex two each.
Beggs was led offensively by Konner Stanton with six points. Other Lady Demon scorers on Tuesday were Destiny Clay with four and Tessa Christy, Bleu Hall, Payton Crook, and Mylah Williams three apiece.
In Tuesday’s boys county showdown in Beggs, the Knights took the opening frame by a 12-8 margin.
The host Demons sent the county contest to the halftime break with the score knotted at 25-25 after outscoring their county foes 17-13 in the second period.
Henryetta led 38-28 after three quarters following a 13-3 advantage in the third, then held off a Beggs rally attempt in the final stanza with a 3-point margin (18-15) in the final eight minutes of regulation to walk off the Beggs gym floor with the 56-43 decision.
The Knights’ top offensive performer was Skylar Greenhaw, who finished with a game-high 19 points. Jordan Short and Austin Palmer also found their way into double-digit scoring in the victory with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Hunter Gobin was next in the scoring column for Henryetta with seven, while Nick Hudson and Will Perez rounded out the Knight scoring against Beggs with three points each.
The duo of Ashwynn Goudeau and Red Martel were tops offensively for the Demons with 15 points apiece.
Other Beggs scorers on Tuesday were Brayden King with six, Logan Hicks four, and Ezrah Anderson three.
