Folk’s
Folk’s, this is a continuation of my yammering’s about an issue here among us dear old souls. The issue being to drive or not to drive.
Folk’s, this is a continuation of my yammering’s about an issue here among us dear old souls. The issue being to drive or not to drive.
A major challenge for me is pulling that P.T. into my slot in the car port. Promised myself to always coast in between those two cars with my foot on the brake. Sure don’t want to damage those cars, or end up going through my neighbor’s window and end up in her living room. Just thinking about it gives me the willies.
Now, it is hard on a family to take those car keys. I know of one old gentleman that happened to. He chuckled telling me about it. He said, “They don’t know I have another set and what they don’t know, won’t hurt them.”
One family left it up to her doctor to tell her, since they found it all too painful to do themselves. That dear old soul was upset with her doctor and wanted us all to be upset with her doctor as well.
One dear old soul drove to the nursing home to visit a friend. There she sat trying to remember how to kill the engine. It never came to her, so she left the car running for an hour until her visit was over. After that, her son went to her house and suggested they do a driving test. Carefully she backed out of the garage. Got herself off the driveway into the front yard and did considerable damage to all the shrubs and flower beds, and the car had a few scratches. Yup, she failed that test!
One dear soul, I admire. She was on her way home which she had done many times before. Had gone that way for ages. She stopped at a stop sign and could not for the life of her decide if it was to go on down the street or turn. She got herself home fine and dandy. Pulled into her garage. Then called her children and instructed them to sell her car. There would be no temptation to drive it again. See why I admire her? There is one that tells me, her driving license will expire when she is 92. At that time, she plans to park it, no more driving.
That made me wonder about my license. Decid- ed to check that out. Oh no! That would not work for me! I would be way too old to still be driving. So, the issue goes on and on to drive or not to drive.
She said, “If one door closes and another opens, your house is haunted and you need to run.”
They said, “When we were young, we were poor. After years of hard work, we’re no longer young.”
