Beggs cagers fall at home to Eufaula

The Lady Demons were unable to get their offense going in the opening contest, falling by a 4114 margin to the visiting Lady Ironheads, while the Demons watched a narrow third-quarter lead turn into a 46-43 defeat in the nightcap.
The Beggs cage squads were scheduled to return to action Tuesday at home against Kellyville and will close out the week with back-to-back road battles with Okmulgee County foes, traveling to Preston on Friday and Okmulgee on Saturday.
In Friday’s girls game against Eufaula, the visitors took the first eight minutes of action by a 17-6 margin, then blanked the host Lady Demons 11-0 in the second period to send the contest into halftime with the Beggs ladies in a sizeable double-digit deficit, 28-6.
Eufaula took the low-scoring third and fourth quarters by margins of 6-3 and 7-5, respectively, to hand the Lady Demons the 41-14 setback.
Beggs was led in scoring by Bleu Hall with six, followed by Destiny Clay with three, and Alyssa Antwine and Konner Stanton two each. Angel Aylor accounted for the final Lady Demon point in the home contest.
In Friday’s boys game, the Demons edged the visitors 12-10 in the opening quarter. Eufaula took a 19-17 lead into halftime following a narrow 9-5 margin in the second stanza.
The Beggs gentlemen went back in front, 29-27, after coming out of the third period with a 12-8 advantage, while Eufaula took the final frame 19-14 to hand the Demons the 46-43 defeat.
Jaxon Remington was tops offensively for Beggs with a team-high 17 points, which included knocking down five 3-point baskets in the contest.
Ashwynn Goudeau was next in the Demon scoring column with eight, followed by Red Martel with six, Ezrah Anderson and Logan Hicks four apiece, and Gage Tennyson and Brayden Williams two each.
