American author, Katharine Holabird, was born Jan. 23, 1948 in Cambridge, Mass. into a family of architects and artists in Chicago.
She grew up with three sisters and wanted to be a writer from an early age.
Holabird studied literature and creative writing at Bennington College in Vermont, graduating in 1969. She married, moved to London and became a freelance writer and nursery school teacher. She and her husband became parents to three children, Tara, Alexandra and Adam.
When her two young daughters started dancing in their pink tutus like she did as a child, Holabird began writing “Angelina Ballerina,” which was published in 1983.
Because of her writings, she was invited to Queen Elizabeth’s 80th birthday party at Buckingham Palace.
She creates her stories in a blue room with a lovely view on the second floor of her London home. She has started a new book series called “Twinkle.”
After living years in London, Holabird and her husband now live in New York City.
Henryetta Public Library has one of her books, “Angelina Ballerina'” available to check out.
