The Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-7 on the year by taking the opening contest by a 48-18 margin, while the Bulldogs improved their season record to 9-6 with a 60-42 victory in the nightcap.
The Schulter cage squads were back in action Thursday at home against Wanette and will travel to Bowlegs Friday for a showdown with the Bowlegs Bison and Lady Bison.
In Tuesday’s girls game at Graham-Dustin, the Schulter ladies took the opening frame by a 20-5 margin, then outscored the host Lady Chieftains 12-5 in the second quarter for a 32-10 lead at the halftime break. The Lady Bulldogs came out of the final two periods with advantages of 8-6 and 8-2, respectively, to put the finishing touches on the 4818 victory.
Schulter was led in scoring by Addiemae Kanada with 10 points. Macee Henderson and Payton Campbell were next offensively for the Lady Bulldogs with eight points each, followed by Jenna Henderson, Alexis Hurt, and Alyssa Evans six apiece and Caidence Campbell and Olive Warren two each.
In Tuesday’s boys contest, the visiting Bulldogs escaped the first period with an 18-11 advantage, then outscored the host Chieftains 18-6 in the second stanza for a commanding 3617 lead at the intermission.
Graham-Dustin came out of the third quarter with a slim 14-13 margin to cut the Schulter lead to 18 points, 49-31, with eight minutes remaining in regulation.
The host Chieftains tallied 11 points in the final frame, while Schulter matched the point total to walk away with the 60-42 decision.
Bobby Calhoun was one of three Bulldog players to reach double figures in the road win, finishing with a team-best 21 points. Kenta Carder and Jordan Freeman also tallied double digit scoring on Tuesday with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
The other Schulter scorers in the road contest were Jordan Horne with six, Kameron Vinyard five, and Jacob Dunn two.
