On Tuesday, the Bulldogs picked up their second-straight win in 2023 with a convincing 92-23 victory over the Wewoka Tigers in Wewoka.
The Okmulgee cage squad was scheduled to travel to Hugo last Friday, but that contest was moved to February 13 after having to be rescheduled due to Hugo competing in a tournament last weekend in Ada.
The next scheduled game for the Bulldogs will be next Thursday (Jan. 17) in Beggs in a first-round meeting with the Morris Eagles at the 2023 Muscogee Nation Invitational Tournament.
In Tuesday’s road win at Wewoka, the Okmulgee squad came out of the opening frame with a 19-5 advantage, then took the second period by a 26-3 margin to go into halftime with a commanding 45-8 lead.
The Bulldogs capped off the one-sided victory in the second half, outscoring the host Tigers 26-9 and 21-6, respectively, in the final two quarters.
Leading the way offensively for Okmulgee on Tuesday was Malakhi Baccus with a game-high 19 points. Ma’khi Phillips was next in the scoring column for the Bulldogs with 15, followed by Keith Talton with 14, Darin Miles 11, and Allen Thierry 10.
Other scoring contributors for Okmulgee against Wewoka were Nolan Yates with seven, Javin Hutchinson five, Tre Swan four, Jeremiah Harley three, and Larry Yahola and Calip Harjo two each.
