The Lady Demons remained winless on the season with a 45-15 setback to the host Kellyville Lady Ponies on Tuesday, while the Demons fell to 1-5 on the year by dropping the nightcap by a 54-48 margin.
The Beggs cage squads will return to the hardwood Friday evening when they host their arch rivals, the Preston Pirates and Lady Pirates. Girls action Friday is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game at approximately 7:30 p.m.
In Tuesday’s girls game at Kellyville, the Lady Demons were doubled up 8-4 in the opening frame and were outscored 17-4 in the second quarter to trail 25-8 at halftime.
Kellyville took the final two periods by margins of 13-2 and 7-5, respectively, to hand the Beggs ladies the 45-15 defeat.
The Lady Demons were led by Bleu Hall with five points, followed by Mylah Williams with four and Alyssa Antwine with three. The trio of Angel Aylor, MaKeltie Hill, and Destiny Clay each chipped in one point to round out the Beggs scoring on Tuesday.
In the boys contest on Tuesday, the Demons trailed 15-12 after the first eight minutes of action. The Beggs gentlemen came out of the second stanza with a narrow 11-9 advantage to trim the deficit to one, 24-23, at the intermission.
The Kellyville lead remained at one (38-37), heading into the final frame after both teams put up 14 points in the third quarter.
The Demons were unable to overcome the narrow deficit in the final eight minutes of regulation, as the host Ponies took the final stanza by a 16-11 margin to hand the Beggs squad the 54-48 setback.
Rickey Smith was tops offensively for Beggs in the road loss, finishing with a team-best 16 points. Jaxon Remington and Red Martel also finished in double figures for the Demons on Tuesday with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The remaining Beggs points against Kellyville came on four points by Logan Hicks and two points each by Jaylen Williams, Gage Tennyson, and Brayden King.
