Several Dewar Dragon varsity football players received postseason honors recently.

A total of 12 Dragon players were named to the District B-5 All-District Team, while four were named to the annual Oklahoma 8-Man Football Coaches Association All-State Game and one was named to the annual Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Football Game.

Senior Ashton Hawkins led the tally of postseason honors for the Dewar gridiron squad in 2022. Hawkins was named as the Defensive Player of the Year for District B-5, while also being named to both the Oklahoma 8-Man Football Coaches Association All-State Team and the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s East All-State Football Team.

The Oklahoma 8-Man Football Coaches Association All-State Game will be played July 17, 2023, at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami, while the Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State Football Game will be played July 28, 2023 at a site to be determined.

Hawkins was part of a Dragon team that finished the 2022 season with a 10-1 record, earned their sixth-straight (30th overall) district championship, 10th-straight playoff appearance, and sixth-straight quarterfinal appearance before having their season end with a 46-0 loss to second-ranked Oklahoma Bible Academy in the Class B quarterfinal round.

Hawkins was also part of a Dewar squad that also extended two other streaks during the 2022 regular season: 35-straight district wins and 43-straight regular-season wins.

Hawkins was joined on the All-District Team by teammates Nevin Corbin, Kade Henderson, Naea Corbin, Tryton Mack, Zack Mullen, Cole Miller, Jaden Maxwell, Dominic Celestine, Christian Cargola, Keelan Berry, and Isaac Powell.

Nevin Corbin was named the District B-5 Most Valuable Player for 2022, finishing his junior campaign with 1,847 yards rushing on 151 carries and 38 TDs.

Henderson, Mack, and Naea Corbin were named to the First Team defensive All-District squad, while Mullen, Miller, Maxwell, and Celestine were named to the First Team offensive All-District team.

The Second Team defensive All-District team members from Dewar were Cargola and Berry, while Powell was named to the Second Team offensive All-District squad for the Dragons.

Dewar assistant coach Jake Stapp was selected as the District B-5 All-District Assistant Coach of the Year for 2022.

Mack, Maxwell, and Miller will join Hawkins as Dewar representatives at the Oklahoma 8-Man Football Coaches Association All-State Game. Mack and Maxwell will join Hawkins as All-State participants, while Miller was selected as an alternate, which means that the Dragon standout will get the opportunity to compete at the annual All-State Game if one of the players selected as a game participant is unable to compete for any reason.
