The Lady Eagles captured both wins on the run rule after three and one-half innings of action.
The twinbill sweep of Okemah keeps the Morris squad perfect on the young 2021 season at 4-0.
The Lady Eagles took last Thursday’s first game against the Lady Panthers by an 11-0 margin, then completed the 2-game sweep by an 11-1 advantage in the nightcap.
The Morris diamond squad was back in action this past Friday, taking part in the annual Beggs Fastpitch Softball Festival, being matched up against Owasso’s JV and Glenpool in their two festival contests.

In last Thursday’s first showdown with Okemah, the host Morris squad broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second then erupted for nine runs in the last of the third for an 11-0 advantage after three innings of action. The Lady Eagles kept the Lady Panthers off the scoreboard in the top of the fourth to walk away with the 11-0, run-rule, victory.
The top hitters for the Lady Eagles in Game 1 were Emma Duclos (2 for 3, 2 doubles, RBI) and Emily Guynes (2 for 2, single, double, 2 RBIs) with two hits apiece. Duclos also reached on a defensive miscue in the contest.
The other three Morris base hits in the shutout win came on singles by Marti Yaerger and Ashlyn Clevenger and an RBI single by Avery Deeringwater.
Other baserunners for the Lady Eagles in the opening contest were Yaerger (walk), Deeringwater (walk), Clevenger (error), Maddie Moore (RBI fielder’s choice), Jessica Wilson (RBI fielder’s choice, walk), Firé Clark (error), and Camara Casey (walk).
In last Thursday’s nightcap, the Lady Eagles opened the scoring with five runs in the home half of the first then added three in the second for an 8-0 advantage.
Okemah broke up the shutout bid with a run in the top of the third, while Morris pushed across three runs in its half of the inning to extend its lead to 11-1.
The Morris defense kept the Lady Panthers off the scoreboard in the top of the fourth to award the Lady Eagles the run-rule win, 11-1.
The offensive leader for Morris in the nightcap was Marti Yaerger, who went 3 for 3 and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Yaerger had an RBI double in the first, a 2-run Inside-the-Park home run in the second, and a single in the third.
Maddie Moore also had a multi-hit game for the Lady Eagles, going 2 for 3 with a pair of singles.
The other four base hits for Morris in the nightcap came on a single by Avery Deeringwater and RBI singles by Kaydence Ausbrooks, Briley Cagle, and Alli Guynes.
Other baserunners in Game 2 last Thursday were Deeringwater (walk), Ausbrooks (2 fielder’s choice, RBI), Jessica Wilson (walk, hit by pitch), Emma Duclos (walk), Ashlyn Clevenger (walk), and Alli Guynes (hit by pitch). Wilson drove in the third for the Lady Eagles that extended the Morris lead to 9-1.
