An official groundbreaking ceremony was held by QuikTrip (QT) on Wednesday morning at the east end of Main Street and Hwy. 75 in Henryetta.
“If not for the aggressiveness and dedication of Mayor Jennifer Munholland,” QT Real Estate Manager Jake Barron said, “this project would not be happening. She kept pushing, even on weekends, to make this happen.”
Along with Mayor Munholland and Barron, Ron Casey, Donna White, Christy Jeffcoat, Rep. Scott Fetgatter, QT Corporate Communications Manager Aisha Jefferson-Smith, QT Division Real Estate Manager Jarod Mendez and Ron Richmond donned gold shovels with the QT logo on them as they dug into the earth, officially kicking off the long-awaited project.
“Within a year, this shiny, brand new location will open,” Aisha Jefferson-Smith said.
The first announcement for the project was made in 2019.
Fast forward two years later and now the project is a reality as the community and passersby witness progression on the site daily.
“I wondered if this day would ever make it here,” Rep. Scott Fetgatter said. “Congratulations to the City of Henryetta on this success. To Henryetta Mayor Jennifer Munholland, I would like to thank you for your tenacity and continuing to keep this project moving forward!”
