Friday, 7-30, is National Cheesecake Day!! Yum! Cheesecake is a rich cake-like dessert layered atop a crust of graham cracker or cookie crumb or a pastry crust. It is often topped with a fruit sauce or something similar like chocolate or caramel. The main layer is made up of sugar, sometimes eggs and softened cream cheese. Most often it is baked, but those looking for a lighter dessert often go for the no bake variety. It can be flavored with all manner of things but some of the most popular are pumpkin, vanilla, chocolate, lemon or other citrus flavors or something fruity like blueberry, cherry or strawberry. No matter how you slice it though, cheesecake is well loved across the world.
