The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) has tentatively set June 1 as the possible day to reopen school facilities across the state. In a statement posted Monday, OSSAA addressed concerns about summer activities and what those might look like in the coming months as the end of the school year draws near.
“While we felt that it was important to establish a statewide guidance for activities during the school year regarding the COVID-19 situation, we feel that it is equally important to provide some guidance for the start of our summer activities,” OSSAA stated.
According to OSSAA, June 1 will provide time for board members and OSSAA staff to analyze data from state and local government entities as well as health professionals.
“Based on the information we have at that time, we could adjust the June 1 date and/or add or relax restrictions to the summer activities regulations,” OSSAA stated. “Our focus has become doing all we can do to help preserve the opening of schools and activities in the fall.”
Updates regarding summer activities and other policies will be posted to the OSSAA’s website (www.ossaa.com).
