ON JANUARY 27, a local fisherman at Henryetta Lake contacted Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) regarding finding a vehicle on sonar while fishing. OCSO contacted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) who took over recovery efforts of the vehicle, reported as a mid-90’s GMC Sierra pickup. “The truck was unoccupied and didn’t have any plates,” OHP Lt. James said during a live video stream on Facebook. “It has been in there for a long time.” Lt. James was joined by at least a dozen other OHP officers as well as their dive team and two Henryetta Police Department personnel during the recovery. Viewers from all across Oklahoma and many other states across the nation joined the live video stream. Lt. James said after the recovery of the pickup, that OHP and divers were going to travel to a lake near Checotah to recover another vehicle.
