HENRYETTA - The Henryetta Golden Knight football team took the field this past Saturday night at historic Cameron Field.
The Knights' first opponent for the 2019 season was a familiar foe, as the Henryetta gridiron squad took on themselves in their Black and White spring football game.
The spring game was the conclusion of the Knights' 10-day spring workout session that began May 13.
Last Saturday's spring game consisted of the 2019 varsity football team being divided with half of the team members competing on the 'White Team' and the other half playing for the 'Black Team'.
The 10-day spring workout and the spring football game are the first steps in the Knights getting prepared for the upcoming 2019 varsity football season, which will get underway September 6 on the road against their arch rivals, the Morris Eagles. The Knights have dropped the last two meetings by a combined 61-20 margin.
The September 6 season opener against Morris will be the first under new head coach Lance Beck, who takes over the reins of the Henryetta varsity football team after Darin Johnson resigned at the end of the 2018 season, ending a 5-year stint as the Knights' head coach.
