Weleetka Lady Outlaws softball team won the April 8 Wilson Softball Tournament Championship on April 8. Their first game of the day secured a win over the Mason Lady Eagles with a score of 8-0. Advancing to the next round of play, they battled the previous year champions, the Calvin Lady Bulldogs, taking the win with a score of 5-2. In the third game, the Lady Outlaws suffered a slim defeat against Earlsboro with a final tally of 6-4. Weleetka came back with perseverance through the loser’s bracket, looking for a chance to win a trophy. For a second time, the Lady Outlaws went up against Calvin, beating the Lady Bulldogs with a massive lead, 15-0. According to Weleetka team officials, the Lady Outlaws had to go up against Earlsboro in order to force an “if necessary” game for the championship. Weleetka secured their first win with a score of 8-5. The final game concluded with Weleetka defeating the Earlsboro Wildcats with an impressive 11-6 score. With 13 long hours of play and six games behind them, Weleetka conquered the tournament and were named champions. Coaches for the Lady Outlaws are Chase Smith and Sean Dandridge. Weleetka Seniors who lead the team are Katelyn Williamson, Taylor VanMeter, Sierra Winkle, Hannah Baldwin and Eryn Stewart.
