HENRYETTA - The Henryetta middle school basketball program kicked off its 2018-19 season on Monday evening by hosting its annual basketball tournament.
The Knights and Lady Knights battled the Wewoka Tigers and Lady Tigers in four first-round contests on Monday.
The Lady Knights came away with a split decision in their opening-round games on Monday with the seventh grade falling to the Lady Tigers by a 35-15 margin, while the eighth grade squad advanced to the championship game with a 20-14 victory over Wewoka.
The seventh grade girls were scheduled to battle the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs in a county battle Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the loser’s bracket semifinals, while the eighth grade Lady Knights are scheduled to battle the winner between Okemah and Okmulgee, who battled on Tuesday, Thursday at 5 p.m. in the tournament title game.
The Knights’ seventh grade cage squad moved into the tournament finals with a win over the visiting Tigers, while the eighth grade HMS squad also advanced to its championship game with a victory over Wewoka.
The HMS gentlemen will battle the winner of Tuesday’s meeting between Okemah and Holdenville in Thursday’s championship games. The seventh grade title contest will take place at 6 p.m. followed by the eighth grade title game at 7 p.m.
