CHANDLER - The Henryetta Golden Knight varsity football team suffered their eighth-straight loss of the 2018 campaign last Friday with a 46-8 defeat at the hands of the host Chandler Lions.

The Knights (1-8 overall, 0-6 in 2A-2) will close out their 2018 regular-season schedule this Friday night at home against the Meeker Wildcats, who are seeking one of the four playoff spots in 2A-2. Meeker is currently second in the 2A-2 standings behind Jones and will, more than likely, be the second seed in the district when the playoffs begin next Friday.

The Henryetta squad will look to close out their 2018 season with a win against a quality opponent.

Kickoff for Friday's season finale against Meeker is set for 7 p.m. at historic Cameron Field.

In last Friday's battle with Chandler, the Knights were unable to reach the end zone until the third quarter when Riley Pixler connected with Daniel Bear on a 7-yard TD pass with 3:20 remaining in the frame. Pixler then completed the 2-point conversion pass to Jordan Hart for the only points of the contest for the visitors.

Chandler found the end zone twice in each of the first three quarters for a 46-0 advantage.

The first-quarter scores for the host Lions came on runs of 10 and 4 yards, respectively, by Dylan McKinney. McKinney also ran in the conversion attempts to give Chandler a 16-0 advantage after one quarter of action.

The first score of the second quarter came on a 44-yard pass from Chabon Anderson to Dylan Mahan at the 7:51 mark. McKinney's successful conversion run pushed the Chandler lead to 24-0.

McKinney extended the score to 32-0 at halftime on a 4-yard run and successful conversion run with 4:14 left in the first half.

The host Lions opened the third quarter with a 6-yard pass from Anderson to Mahan with 9:26 left in the frame. McKinney crossed the goal line on the conversion run to make it a 40-0 contest.

The final Chandler score came at the 6:15 mark of the third on a 37-yard run by Anderson. The run attempt on the conversion was unsuccessful, extending Chandler's lead to 46-0.

The Knights broke up the shutout bid with the 7-yard TD pass from Pixler to Bear.

Neither team reached the end zone in the fourth quarter to put the Henryetta squad on the short end of a 46-8 outcome. The Knights finished with 290 yards of total offense in the loss, rushing 27 times for 181 yards and completing 12 of 23 passes for 109 yards. For the third time this season, the Henryetta passing attack did not throw an interception. The other two interception-free games for the Knights came in Week 4 against Okemah and Week 6 against Holdenville. The top rusher for Henryetta against Chandler was Bear with five carries for 92 yards. Austen Macaluso was next in the rushing department for the Knights with four carries for 58 yards. The top receiver for the Knights last Friday was Jeremiah Boyles with three catches for 41 yards. ---
