Bible study, October 27, 9:30 a.m.
“The Key to Unity” is the title of our study this week. Paul’s concern for unity is the central theme in his Epistle to the Ephesians. God’s ultimate purpose is to reunify all things through Christ, thus Salvation is offered to all humanity. In Christ we have all been adopted and belong to the family of God, equally loved and cherished. Through faith in Christ as our substitute and surety we become the elect of God.
Before Christ, ethnic, cultural and religious differences created animosity and conflicts, but in Christ we are all one people with a common Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He is our peace.
If we are proud, unwilling to listen to others, or to search His Word together, we have no chance of unity and dishonor Christ before the world.
Study texts are Ephesians; Matthew 20:25-28; Romans 8:14-17; 1 Corinthians 13:1-7; and 2 Peter 3:9.
Worship service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at both churches. Midweek service is on Tuesday at 7:30 at the Maranatha church and Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee Church. We welcome you to join us as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

St. Michael Catholic Church - Henryetta
30th Sunday
(Jer. 31: 7-9/Heb. 5: 1-6/Mk. 10: 46-52)
The gospel today tells us about how Jesus heals Bartimaeus who was blind.
It would seem that there is more symbolism in the eyes than in any other bodily organ, except perhaps the heart. Eyes provide vision. We see people. We see the glory of God reflected in the glory of nature, in sunrises and sunsets, in rainbows and clouds. And grace of a sense of wonder, awe, gratitude, joy. This nature vision, is a sign of a deeper, more glorious vision, an insight into the glory of God, creator of all beauty, into the meaning of life and our relationship with Jesus, Son of God.
Correspondingly, there are several kinds of blindness. There is the blindness of those who are born without sight or those who lose their sight and who therefor need implants and glasses of varying strength. And then there is spiritual blindness of those who do not wish to see any meaning in life, those who have no spiritual values, no spiritual vision, are self-centered and self-satisfied, blind to the needs of the poor, concerned only with self-advancement.
Of course Jesus heals the blind man Bartimaeus. But this blindness is a symbol of all the people in the world who want to see Jesus, not physical but spiritual, of those who wish for a deeper vision of reality, of meaning for their lives. Blind people cannot see Jesus because the seeing Christians fail to show Jesus to them.
The 30th Sunday in Ordinary Timer is usually “Mission Sunday” in the world. Because Missionaries are women and men in need. They share the gospel and make people know that Christ is God in the world. Many ways we can evangelize the Good News of God to all mankind, because there are too many people who never heard about God yet.
The world is still full of blind people of all ages crying out to Jesus; “Jesus, We want to see!” Christ Jesus now depends on men and women who are willing to become another Christ for these spiritual blind children of God.
By our love and care, our time, we are to let a little light into their world of darkness. Christ Jesus continues to ask us to do for others who really need their spiritual visions to see and know Jesus as God.

Old is New Again by Mary Morris
"I am always aware of the Lord's presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me." (Psalms 16:8)
How boldly do we walk each day? Do we wake with gladness for another day? Is there so much joy in our heart that we cannot help but walk with a bounce in our step and a smile on our face?
Welllllll ...
I remember being in school and having to make oral book reports - - flop sweat, dry mouth, racing heart, and mind blank. I worked with a fella who referred to the first day of the work week as "Oh, double-en, M, A" -- oh, no, not Monday again. I've been around people who could do nothing but find fault in others, and whine and complain about every facet of their lives.
Depressing thoughts, right? Yet who of us is completely innocent of doing these ourselves?Everybody has ups and downs, hills and valleys. At times, we feel like we're stuck either on the upgrade struggle or wallowing in the mud pits. But those aren't the times to have a pity party. They're when we should be thanking God the most.
You see, our "down" experiences allow us to connect more powerfully with our God. These are opportunities, not woes. He gives us these chances to strengthen and enlarge our faith in Him. "Trust in the Lord. Have faith, do not despair. Trust in the Lord. (Psalms 27:14)" "Tears may flow in the night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalms 30:5b)" "You have changed my sadness into a joyful dance; you have taken away my sorrow and surrounded me with joy. So I will not be silent; I will sing praise to you. Lord, you are my God; I will give you thanks forever. (Psalms 30:11-12)"
Everything is perspective, point of view. We can choose to continue to look down and feel down. Or we can raise our eyes to the skies and seek the faith and hope that will sustain us until our life here ends and our joy is made complete. It may be a new mindset for us, but it was a way of life for King David.
Well, I'll be ... everything old becomes new again!
Cornerstone Foursquare - The Land of Candy
Harvest Time is here and it starts with Crazies, Community, and Chocolate! “As one of my friends said recently in reference to celebrating Halloween, ‘I celebrate Kids...’and that is what Cornerstone is going to keep doing,” says Mickey Baldwin, Lead Pastor at CF. He continues to explain, “Here at Cornerstone we will host another Journey Through the Bible as we turn to the Harvest of 2018. So, on October 31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., we will host our community and their crazy antics to provide tours for children and parents alike to experience scenes from the land of Candy and Goodness. Each tour will last about 10 minutes and will demonstrate the ‘goodness of God that leads men to repentance’ and fill that candy craving at the same time.“
Join us this month for each opportunity to let the Holy Spirit unwrap God’s sweet goodness for you and your friends. From MidWeek Circles on Wednesday nights, CF Sunday’s on the weekend, and a special walk through the Land of Candy on Halloween on October 31st.
“These events are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to really getting connected and letting community take shape in us,” Pastor Baldwin adds as he concludes with this thought. “There will always be issues and preferences we can take stand behind to protect ourselves from reaching into our community. Surly we can use this season as a way to show God’s love and goodness? Celebrating what God has done could be the fun that makes the Gospel—the Power of Salvation. So, let me share my friend’s comment to put an end to these thoughts. ‘Let the candy collecting begin’.”
Weekly opportunities: MidWeek Circles have been launched and we are filling up the Kid Zone with kids each Wednesday at 6 p.m. (there are Circles for Kids, J12, CSM Youth, andAdults with CR Step Studies for men and women and another circle specially focused on Daily Faith). Friday Nites are all about recovery—not trying to fix others, but letting God fix us through his recovery in us. CF’s Celebrate Recovery Rally starts at 7 p.m. The Main Event on weekends begin with the doors opening at 10 a.m. Every CF Sunday includes friends, family, and building connections around Hope in Jesus. The music starts at 10:30 a.m., so pick each opportunity that works for you and we will see you at CF located at 617 N. Oklahoma Ave. Intersection of Oklahoma and Trent.

New Life Apostolic Church
Sin separates man from fellowship with God. Since Genesis 3:6 Documented Sin No. l when man rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, sin still separates man from his maker.
Sin is no small matter; the price of sin is indeed expensive. Sin cost man his dominion over the earth, selling his rights to Satan, and sin destroyed the perfect relationship man enjoyed with God in paradise.
Salvation means deliverance from sin. Repentance is the starting place for this shackle-busting provision of mercy created through God's love for mankind. However, man has no option or freedom to choose the road back to fellowship with God. How can an unholy people be reconciled to a Holy God? Always by some means of sacrifice, which is giving up something of value for something even more valuable. Repentance is not repeatedly confessing sinful acts done over and over again; repentance is Godly sorrow for sins committed, forsaking the sin committed, and Not Doing It Anymore. Repentance is the first step to salvation. No repentance, No salvation.
May God bless you.
