HENRYETTA - The Henryetta Golden Knights suffered their seventh-straight loss of the 2018 season last Thursday night at home to the Jones Longhorns. The setback to the 2016 Class 3A

HENRYETTA - The Henryetta Golden Knights suffered their seventh-straight loss of the 2018 season last Thursday night at home to the Jones Longhorns. The setback to the 2016 Class 3A state champion Longhorns came by a 55-0 margin - the first shutout loss this season for the Knights. The shutout defeat put the Henryetta squad at 1-7 on the year, 0-5 in 2A-2 action. The Knights were held to a season-low 56 yards of total offense in last Thursday's district contest, marking the first time the Henryetta squad did not finish with more than 150 yards of total offense this season. The previous season-low in total offense for the Knights was 164 yards against Prague. The Henryetta squad will look to snap their 6-game losing streak this Friday night with a trip to Chandler and a district showdown with the Chandler Lions, who, along with Holdenville, are just ahead of the Knights in the district standings at 1-4. Friday's district meeting with the Lions is set for 7 p.m. in Chandler. In last Thursday's home battle with Jones, the visiting Longhorns opened the scoring with a 17-yard TD run by Elijah Reed at the 9:18 mark of the opening quarter. Zac Knox toed the first of seven-consecutive extra-point tries to give Jones the early 7-0 advantage. With 6:16 remaining in the first period, Jones doubled its lead to 14-0 on a 48-yard TD pass from Daniel Jackson to Korbin Cox. The next score for the Longhorns came at the 3:52 mark of the first on a 15-yard run by Lucas Collier, extending the Jones lead to 21-0. Collier also scored on a 6-yard run with 52 seconds left in the first quarter, pushing the Knights' deficit to 28 points after the first 12 minutes of action. A 51-yard run by Korbin Cox at 10:46 of the second made it a 35-0 contest, then Jackson's 6-yard pass to Jase Farmer with 7:43 left before halftime put the Knights in a 42-0 disadvantage. The Longhorns added a 1-yard TD run at 11:03 in the third and a 53-yard pass from Carsen May to DeQuan Laskey at 8:25 in the fourth to hand the Henryetta squad the 55-0 defeat. ---
