Two 911 dispatchers have received the Everyday Heroes Award in honor of their actions during a 911 call.
On September 27 at 12:03 a.m. the 911 dispatch center received an emergency call from a man stating he had just killed someone.
Emmie Napier was the primary call taker who assisted with the call. According to paperwork filed by Dustin Todd, Napier maintained a calm and professional manor even while dealing with the frantic caller. She also gathered important information from the caller on top of the normal information such as name, location, call back numbers etc.
While Napier was handling the call her partner, Stacy Oglesby, was able to promptly dispatch deputies which was followed up on by a rapid response from the Sheriff’s Office.
During the call both Napier and Oglesby took turns speaking to and calming the caller as well as gathering as many critical details as possible. They have both been commended for their role in the arrest of Ryan Johnson for the murder of Destiny Arnold.
In recognition of their calm and professional attitude both Napier and Oglesby were nominated for and won the Everyday Heroes Award.
