With four weeks remaining in the regular season, teams are now playing to keep playoff hopes alive.
As for the six Okmulgee County teams, three have great chances of earning postseason berths with two sitting atop their respective district standings. The other three county teams are not mathematically eliminated from postseason play as of yet, but a loss in Week 7 could end those playoff dreams.
The Beggs Golden Demons and Dewar Dragons are sitting in the proverbial 'driver's seat' when it pertains to playoff contention with spotless district records. The Demons will have a tough test in front of them this week, as they will welcome the undefeated Victory Christian Conquerors to town for a key District 2A-3 showdown. Both teams enter tonight's battle with spotless 3-0 district records and sit tied with Sperry for the top spot in the district standings.
The Dragons kicked off district play last week, routing Cave Springs to sit atop the B-6 standings alongside Keota and Porum. The Dewar squad will take on the Arkoma Mustangs tonight (Friday), seeking to remain atop the B-6 standings with their second district victory in 2018.
The Morris Eagles are currently 3-3 on the year following last week's win over the Kiefer Trojans. The 16-point win was the first in district play this season for the Eagles, putting the Morris squad at 1-2 and a three-way tie for fourth with Haskell and Kiefer. The Eagles will seek an upset win this week, as they will take a 60-mile trip to Sperry to take on the unbeaten Sperry Pirates. While a win over Sperry tonight will make a huge impact in the Eagles' playoff dreams, a loss could prove detrimental to the Morris squad's plans of reaching the postseason in 2018.
The three county teams that will be playing for their playoff lives this week are the Okmulgee Bulldogs, Henryetta Golden Knights, and Wilson Tigers.
All three gridiron squads sit at the bottom of their respective district standings with 0-3 records.
If these three county teams are to have any chance of continuing their 2018 campaigns past November 2, they will need to come away with key district wins tonight.
The Okmulgee Bulldogs return home after a 2-week road trip to Checotah and Roland, respectively, to take on the Tulsa Webster Warriors (1-5, 0-3). Webster sits at the bottom of the 3A-3 standings with Okmulgee, meaning that the winner of tonight's showdown in Okmulgee will secure their first district win of 2018.
The Henryetta Golden Knights will take to the road for the second-consecutive week, traveling to Creek County and a showdown with the Kellyville Ponies, who sit just ahead of the Knights in the District 2A-2 standings. A win over the Ponies could very well help the Knights in their quest for a playoff spot, while a loss will, more than likely, eliminate the Henryetta squad from playoff contention with three games remaining.
The Wilson Tigers are in the same boat as Okmulgee and Henryetta this week, as a road win over the Webbers Falls Warriors will give the Wilson squad their very first district win in school history and keep their playoff dreams alive for at least one more week. A loss to a winless Webbers Falls team will, more than likely, end the Tigers' hopes of earning their first playoff berth.
Here is how the county teams fared in Week 6:
• Okmulgee dropped a 60-28 decision to Roland to remain winless in District 3A-3 action.
• Beggs stayed atop the District 2A-3 standings with a 40-0 win over Dewey.
• Morris earned its first district win of 2018 by defeating Kiefer 24-8.
• Henryetta fell to 0-3 in district play with a 34-13 loss to Holdenville.
• Dewar kicked off district play with a 54-6 rout of Cave Springs.
• Wilson remained winless in district play after a 52-36 loss to Bowlegs.
Below are the offensive and defensive keys to the game for the six Okmulgee County teams that are competing in Week 7.
---
Henryetta at Kellyville
Henryetta Offensive Keys
The Knights did a good job of executing a balanced offensive attack last week against Holdenville, rushing for 145 yards and passing for 205 yards. The Henryetta offense will need to put together successful scoring drives this week, while continuing to be balanced offensively, if they are to earn their first district win of 2018. The Knights will need to have better production in the run game from senior tailback Jordan Hart and junior running back Austen Macaluso, while sophomore quarterback Jakob White will need to complete more than 50% of his pass attempts this week in order for the Henryetta offense to be successful against an aggressive Kellyville defense. The Knights will also need to take care of the football this week, not turning the ball over or having penalties take away scoring opportunities.
Henryetta Defensive Keys
The Henryetta defense will need to find a way to shut down the Ponies' Wing-T offensive gameplan, which begins with senior tailbacks Hayden Hutchins (5-10, 170) and Dylan Pickering (5-9, 170), who combined for 2,700 yards on the ground last year. The ringleader in Kellyville's Wing-T offense is sophomore quarterback Colton Ayers (5-9, 155), who is just as talented at running the football, as he is throwing the pigskin. The Knights will need to get lined up correctly on defense this week and know where the ball is at all times. The Henryetta squad will need to create turnovers and force lots of three-and-out situations that get the Kellyville offense off the field as quickly as possible and not allow the Ponies to jump out to a large lead, forcing the Knights to play catch-up in this all-important district contest.

Dewar vs Arkoma
Dewar Offensive Keys
The Dragons will need to continue moving the ball down the field effectively this week if they are to continue to remain atop the B-6 district standings. The Dewar offense will need to continue getting production from its weapons in quarterback Joey Fowler, running backs Tristan Melder, Kameron Wadley, and Shawn Maxwell, and receivers Braxton Loyd and Rhett Whitlow. The offensive line will need to continue to provide running lanes for the run game, while allowing Fowler time in the pocket to find either Loyd or Whitlow downfield in the aerial attack. The Dragons will need to avoid penalties, turnovers, or negative plays that take away scoring chances this week.
Dewar Defensive Keys
The Dewar defense will need to contain the Mustangs' run game, which features the sophomore trio of Grant Williams (5-6, 130), Joseph Caldwell (5-7, 135), and Brett Chambers (5-11, 190). When Arkoma does go to the air, the main targets for the Mustangs this season include sophomores Alex McLemore (5-9, 140) and Josh Killion (5-9, 130) and senior Cade Weatherton (6-0, 130). The Dragons will need to find a way to get into the backfield and disrupt the Mustangs' offensive rhythm, creating turnovers and lots of three-and-out situations that get the talented Dewar offense back on the field as quickly as possible.

Wilson at Webbers Falls
Wilson Offensive Keys
The Tigers will need to find a way to grab an early lead this week and remain in front throughout the contest - something the Wilson squad has failed to do the last six games. The Wilson offense will also need to find a way to be balanced this week, as they continue their search for their very first district win. The Tigers need more production from tailback Michael McKinney and quarterback Cobey Sellers this week, finding ways to put the ball in the end zone each time the offense steps onto the field. The Wilson offense will need to avoid making costly mistakes, such as penalties, turnovers, and negative-yardage plays, if the Tigers are to end their current 6-game losing streak.
Wilson Defensive Keys
The main goal for the Wilson defense this week will be to keep the Warriors out of the end zone. The Tigers will need to get into the backfield and apply pressure to sophomore quarterback Josh Mason (5-9, 170), forcing errant passes that result in either incompletions or interceptions, as well as bringing the Webbers Falls signal caller down behind the line of scrimmage for negative yardage. The Wilson defensive front will have their hands full with offensive linemen Waylon Brausell (6-1, 260, So.) and J.D. Moore (6-2, 240, So.) and tight end Jordan Cole (6-2, 180, Jr.) and will need to find a way past these talented linemen if they are to apply pressure to Mason. The Wilson secondary will need to avoid giving up big pass plays and not allow the Webbers Falls receivers to get behind them, which could make for a long night defensively for the Tigers. The Wilson defense will also need to come away with turnovers this week, while forcing the Warriors to punt the ball most of the time when they are on offense if the Tigers are to be successful in earning their first district win in school history.

Okmulgee vs Tulsa Webster
Okmulgee Offensive Keys
The main goal offensively for the Bulldogs this week will be to find a way to effectively move the ball down the field with the run game. In the first six games, the Okmulgee offense has failed to rush for more than 100 yards in a game. The offensive line will need to do a better job upfront, providing blocks and opening up running lanes for the running backs to pick up positive yardage. The Bulldogs cannot allow themselves to rely heavily on the passing game this week, as has been the case for most of the season. The Okmulgee offense needs to avoid costly penalties this week if they are to have any chance of reaching the end zone. The Bulldogs also need to take care of the football this week and not have a promising drive end due to a turnover.
Okmulgee Defensive Keys
The main focus for the Bulldogs on defense this week will be to contain dual-threat quarterback DeLeon Johnson (5-11, 175, Sr.). Johnson has the ability to throw and run the football effectively if not contained in the backfield. Johnson's favorite aerial target is junior Dominic Wallace (5-10, 155) and will look to the receiver when a pass play is called. The Okmulgee defense will need to find a way to get into the backfield and apply tons of pressure to Johnson, disrupting the offensive rhythm, and forcing the Warrior signal caller to make errant passes that result in incompletions or interceptions. The Bulldogs will also need to make better tackles at the line of scrimmage when the Warriors go to the run game. The Okmulgee defenders cannot allow the Webster offense to move the ball down the field effectively if they are to come away with a key district win this week.
---
Beggs vs Victory Christian
Beggs Offensive Keys
The Demons have been very effective putting points on the scoreboard during district play, outscoring opponents 150-0 in three games. The Beggs offense will need to continue to move the ball effectively downfield, picking up first downs and keeping the Victory Christian offense off the field as much as possible if they are to remain perfect in the district standings after this week. The offensive line will need to continue opening up running lanes for the ever-dangerous running back trio of Jared Sutter, Kayson Toliver, and T.J. Austin, as well as providing time in the pocket for quarterback Dalton Spring to find one of his talented receivers downfield in the passing game. The Demons will need to avoid costly mistakes, such as three-and-outs, turnovers, penalties, or turnover on downs, that take the offense off the field without points being put up on the scoreboard.
Beggs Defensive Keys
The main goal for the Beggs defense this week will be to find a way past the talented offensive line of the Conquerors that is anchored by seniors Braden Murray (6-2, 265) and Wilberto Irizarry (6-3, 280). If the Demon defenders can get past the stout Victory Christian O-Line, they will need to find ways to contain the Conquerors' three-headed offensive monster in quarterback Garrett Williams (6-3, 205, Sr.), running back Gabriel Byrams (5-8, 185, Sr.), and wide receiver Josh Sirleaf (6-0, 170, Sr.). Another offensive weapon that the Beggs defense will need to try and contain this week is senior receiver Ethan Church (5-9, 170), who can line up at either the slot receiver or wideout spot on offense. If the Demons can find a way to get past the offensive line and contain the offensive weapons of the Conquerors, it could very well lead to the Beggs squad staying atop of the district standings for one more week.
---
Morris at Sperry
Morris Offensive Keys
The Eagles will need to find a way to effectively move the ball down the field with the run game this week, sustaining long, time-consuming drives that keep the high-powered Sperry offense off the field as much as possible. The Morris offensive line will need to do their best of keeping the Sperry defenders out of the backfield, opening up running lanes for the run game, while also giving quarterback Kolby Burgess time in the pocket to complete a pass to an open receiver downfield. The Eagles will also need to avoid penalties and turnovers that take away from moving the chains and possibly put points on the scoreboard.
Morris Defensive Keys
The Eagle defense will need to find a way to contain a high-powered Sperry offense that features senior quarterback Beau Teel (6-1, 180), junior running back Bryce Carter (5-11, 180), and senior wideout Kyle Jobe (5-9, 170). Other offensive weapons for the Pirates are junior Joe Whitley (5-10, 165), senior Jacob Sutherland (5-9, 170), and junior Cooper Park (5-8, 150). Whitley and Sutherland will be used in the run game with Carter, while Park can be used as either quarterback, running back, or wide receiver, depending on the formation being called. If the Eagles can find a way to contain these offensive weapons and come away with turnovers and punting situations, it could very well lead to an upset district win for the Morris squad.
