Rotarian Lyle Stogner held the card game. Wes Arnett had the winning ticket and chose the Queen of Diamonds.
Keith Hare was Rotarian of the Week and announced his special guest speaker and neighbor, Roy Madden, Henryetta Chamber of Commerce Executive Director.
Madden discussed Cruise Knight, merchants Halloween, Chamber Chatter and the annual Christmas Parade.
Henryetta’s Fall Cruise Knight will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature bounce houses, live music, music from the Street Outlaws (including photo opportunities), other games, food vendors and calendar photos and modeling opportunities by Pink Wolf.
Cruise Knight chairman is Staci Alsover of First Family Federal Credit Union (FFFCU).
Madden said Cruise Knight originally started as a summer event and has really grown over the years with this year’s summer event being “bigger than ever.”
Henryetta is a prime location and the city depends on sales tax revenue from retail businesses, Madden said. He wants to maintain family events in town and bring in more people that will keep coming back.
The Merchants Halloween event is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 31. Madden encouraged all participating businesses to “take time to meet children’s parents and invite them into your stores.”
Jill Francis is the chair of Merchants Halloween.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Henryetta Christmas parade will be held. There is no charge to enter floats into the parade. According to Madden, this was the largest event in 2017. “We want to bring a lot of people to town and have them enjoy our community,” he said.
“There is a gold mine passing us everyday,” Madden said of the thousands of motorists passing or coming through Henryetta on a daily basis. “We need to bring more people in and bring more dollars in to our community.”
Madden reported the chamber has a new, inviting billboard along I-40 at Exit 237 which says “Henryetta - A place to hang your hat.”
On Monday, Jan. 28, Henryetta Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be held and will feature Jill Donovan, Founder of Rustic Cuffs, as guest speaker.
Chamber membership has been maintained around 120 members yearly, Madden said. New members can join the Henryetta Chamber with a 50% discount for the year.
