HENRYETTA - The Henryetta Golden Knight varsity football team dropped a 61-6 decision to the visiting Prague Red Devils last Friday night at historic Cameron Field. The District 2A-2 meeting took place following the Knights' special Homecoming ceremony where Brittany Van Stratten was crowned the All-Sports Homecoming Queen for the 2018-19 school year. The Knights (1-4) sit at 0-2 in district play and are currently in a 3-way tie for sixth with Holdenville and Chandler. The Henryetta squad will continue their search for their first district win of the 2018 campaign this Friday night at Holdenville against the Holdenville Wolverines. Kickoff for Friday's district meeting with Holdenville is set for a 7 p.m. start time. In last Friday's showdown with Prague, the Knights were held to just 164 yards of total offense on 66 plays. The Henryetta squad ran the football 38 times for 70 yards and were 8 of 31 passing for 94 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Prague opened the scoring with an 8-yard run by QB Brayden McGinnis at the 7:56 mark of the opening period. McGinnis also ran in the conversion attempt to give the Red Devils the early 8-0 advantage. The visitors extended their lead at 4:53 of the first on a 90-yard TD run by Justin Morlan. McGinnis crossed the goal line for the conversion to double the Prague lead to 16-0. The final tally for Prague in the opening frame came at the 1:02 mark on a 36-yard run by McGinnis. The Red Devil signal caller ran in the conversion attempt to make it a 24-0 contest after one quarter of action. Morlan's 61-yard scamper at 8:54 of the second extended the Prague lead to 30-0. Branom Bailey's successful conversion run pushed the advantage to 32-0. On the final play of the first half, McGinnis connected with Jake Schultz on a 69-yard aerial strike. McGinnis bounced into the end zone on the conversion try to send the teams to the halftime break with the Knights in a huge deficit, 40-0. Trevor Mills opened the second-half scoring with back-to-back TD runs of 21 and 51 yards, respectively, to push the Prague lead even further. Finn Kasting toed the extra-point kicks after both TD runs to make it a 54-0 contest with 5:38 left in the third quarter. The Knights broke up the shutout bid at the 3:36 mark of the third on a 12-yard TD pass from Jakob White to Jeremiah Boyles. The pass attempt on the conversion try was no good, cutting the deficit to 54-6. The final tally of the contest came with 3:18 left in the third on a 60-yard TD run by Mills.
