Bible Study, September 29, 9:30 a.m.
Our final study in the book of Acts is “Journey to Rome.” Paul’s journey to Rome on board ship was fraught with danger. Paul’s warning that it was not wise to leave Fair Havens was ignored and they ended up shipwrecked, but without loss of life, because God spared their lives.
While imprisoned in Rome Paul spoke to whoever came to him, even converting members of Caesar’s household. Not to mention that most of what he wrote, and he wrote most of the New Testament, was written during his incarceration. What a blessing to all, in all places and throughout all ages!
Wherever he was, whatever the circumstances, Paul was always ready to tell of Jesus life, death, and resurrection. Like Paul, we should ever be ready to share the good news with all with whom we come in contact.
Study texts are Acts 27 & 28; Matthew 24:14; Romans 1:13-17; Philippians 1:12-14; 4:21,22 and 2 Timothy 4:6-8.
Worship service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at both churches. Midweek service is on Tuesday at 7:30 at the Maranatha church andThursday at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee Church.

New Life Apostolic Church
Sin separates man from fellowship with God. Since Genesis 3:6 Documented Sin No. l when man rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, sin still separates man from his maker.
Sin is no small matter; the price of sin is indeed expensive. Sin cost man his dominion over the earth, selling his rights to Satan, and sin destroyed the perfect relationship man enjoyed with God in paradise.
Salvation means deliverance from sin. Repentance is the starting place for this shackle-busting provision of mercy created through God's love for mankind. However, man has no option or freedom to choose the road back to fellowship with God. How can an unholy people be reconciled to a Holy God? Always by some means of sacrifice, which is giving up something of value for something even more valuable. Repentance is not repeatedly confessing sinful acts done over and over again; repentance is Godly sorrow for sins committed, forsaking the sin committed, and Not Doing It Anymore. Repentance is the first step to salvation. No repentance, No salvation.
May God bless you.
Pastor Anna Lewis , New Life Apostolic Church , 201 East 5th Street Suite D 918-993-9926

St. Michael Catholic Church - Henryetta
26th Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Num. 11: 25-29/James. 5: 1-6/Mk. 9: 38-43)
The topic I want to share with you this Sunday is: “A Stumbling Block.” Once again there is a common idea in the first reading and the Gospel: One does not have to belong to any privileged group in order to receive God’s special gifts and favors. What is necessary is that one be willing to share one’s gifts, both spiritual and temporal, with those who do not possess them and are in any kind of need.
The mentality condemned in the first reading from the Book of Number 11: 25-29 and the Gospel of Mark 9: 38-43 is still prevalent today: If you do not belong to us, to our group, you cannot be saved! One wonders what such Christians do about today’s texts. These Scripture readings tell us that God’s power, love and special gifts cannot be the exclusive possession of any particular group, people or church.
I am convinced that God chose the Jews to be his very own people and to be the primary bearers of divine revelation. And I am all the more convinced that Christ Jesus established a Church on earth in which he willed to continue to live, to act, and to preach the Good News of God’s saving love through all ages to come. I truly believe that this Church is the principal means wherein his saving work is carried on. But we have no right to be narrow and arrogant about our having been chosen as its members. We are all God’s Children, Jews, Gentiles, etc…
Jesus wants us that we shall be called to give and account for the way in which we have used or failed to use, to share our spiritual and material riches. What our Lord really demands of us is a change in our thinking, if that thinking fails to correspond with his own mind.
When God became a human person he was born in Bethlehem and the Angeles of the Lord sang, “Glory to God in the highest, and Peace on earth to those on whom his favor rests.”(Lk. 2: 14)
May the power of Christ’s love fill all our hearts!
May Jesus help us to love each other as He loves us all.

Fill In The Blanks By Mary Beth Morris
At one time you Gentiles rejected God. But now Israel has rejected God, and you have been shown mercy. And because of the mercy shown to you, they will also be shown mercy. All people have disobeyed God, and that's why he treats them as prisoners. But he does this, so that he can have mercy on all of them. Who can measure the wealth and wisdom and knowledge of God? Who can understand his decisions or explain what he does? Romans 11:30-33
We disobey God. We don't want to. We know where disobedience leads us, but we do it anyway.
And then there's God's great mercy and love. In spite of all we do that would otherwise turn a human's love away from us, God loves us. He wants us to come to Him with that defiant spirit so that He can show us His overwhelming grace and mercy.
There's no rhyme or reason to that kind of behavior! Scholars can study it forever and never come to grips with it. It defies all logic.
Well, it defies all HUMAN logic.
But God isn't human. He's the Creator and Ruler of everything. He can show mercy -- or not -- as He desires. But He WANTS to show mercy, to shower us with blessings of love and forgiveness, in spite of all our efforts to prove our unworthiness of even His most fleeting thought.
That idea can be misconstrued: that we can sin all we want and it's okay, as long as we seek forgiveness. Nothing could be further from the truth! Our goal is to live a blameless life, doing all we can to avoid sin. But, because we are weak, willful, and ignorant, sin is going to creep in and touch us. That much is accepted as given. It's when we let sin become a permanent resident that we are in danger.
So live your life in as much peace and love as you can, letting God fill in the blanks and take up the slack, energizing and sustaining you. Then go to your knees and thank Him and praise Him for all that He does, including that double jumbo portion of forgiveness, love, mercy, and grace He offers.
