Traveling to participate in the Kiefer Champions Conference, Henryetta High School’s cross country team kept pace with their opponents Kiefer, Drumright and Oktaha. Though they were unable to beat Kiefer in team scores, several individuals placed in the top spots during the conference. Kiefer High School’s girls cross country team is currently ranked 16th but that didn’t stop Henryetta runner Alyssa Collett from outpacing two Kiefer runners for fifth place with a time of 15:19 minutes. More than a minute later two more Henryetta runners crossed the finish line. Jenna Berryhill took eighth clocking in at 16:08, while teammate Bayleigh Nye came in two seconds after Berryhill with a time of 16:10 to take 10th place.
The boys cross country team could not outrun the third ranked Kiefer boys cross country team in the two mile run. Several Knights fell behind Kiefer runners, clocking in around the 20 minute mark. Keaton Lollis was the highest ranked Knight, taking ninth place with a time of 20:17. Austin Green wasn’t too far behind coming in 12th place with a time of 21:15, while teammate Riley Floyd took 14th with a time of 22:23.
Henryetta Junior High’s cross country team also had high ranking individuals and the junior high boys team even took first in team scores. The boys team had two individuals take top spots, including Jacky Caywood who clocked in at 6:21 taking third in the junior high boys one mile run. Crossing the finish line 10 seconds later, Ethan Goodner took fourth place with a time of 6:31. With two high scoring individuals, the junior high boys team was able to beat out Kellyville and Kiefer for a total of 31 points. Individually, the girls junior high runners also did well with Joslyn Stidman taking fourth in the junior high girls one mile run with a time of 7:03. Raychel Morrison was the next Lady Knight to cross the finish line to take ninth place with a time of 7:23.
