CHOCTAW - The Wilson Tiger varsity football team ended their non-district schedule last Friday with a 38-8 loss to the host Life Christian Academy Eagles. The 30-point setback puts the Wilson squad at 1-3 in 2018, heading into this Friday's District C-4 opener at home against the Sasakwa Vikings. Sasakwa enters the district opener with a 1-2 record and has lost its last two contests by a combined 108-6. Kickoff for Friday's district opener is set for 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. In last Friday's non-district finale against Life Christian, the Tigers trailed 30-0 at halftime and were unable to overcome the huge deficit to suffer the 30-point defeat. Life Christian opened the scoring with a 3-yard run by No. 47 with 10:23 left in the opening quarter. The conversion attempt was successful, as No. 23 raced into the end zone for the 2-point score, giving the host Eagles the 8-0 advantage. Two minutes, 17 seconds later, Life Christian doubled its lead to 16-0 with a 19-yard TD run by No. 10 and a successful conversion run by No. 47. Life Christian got TD runs of 12 and 26 yards, respectively, by No. 23 in the second quarter to extend its lead even further at halftime. The first score by No. 23 came at 6:11 in the second quarter. The pass attempt on the conversion play was unsuccessful, making it a 22-0 contest. The other TD run by No. 23 in the second stanza came at the 3:26 mark. A successful conversion run by No. 47 gave the host Eagles a 30-0 halftime lead. The Tigers ended the shutout bid at 6:21 of the third when Josiah Sellers hauled in a 6-yard TD pass from Michael McKinney. The duo also hooked up on the successful conversion attempt to make it a 30-8 contest. Life Christian put the finishing touches on the 38-8 decision with a 6-yard run by No. 47 and successful conversion run by No. 10 with 7:16 left in regulation. Offensively, the Tigers finished with 202 yards of total offense in the non-district finale, including completing 5 of 12 passes for 121 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The top defensive player against Life Christian was Malik Thompson with seven tackles - one for a loss.
