Her book, "Praying God's Word for Your Children,” is a spiritual prayer guide she designed to help aide parents in releasing faith through their words using scripture.
She currently teaches women who are incarcerated to appropriate the Word of God for their families, whom they are separated from. One of her goals is to have transitional homes for women and their children who are temporarily displaced.

Bible study, September 1, 9:30 a.m.
This week in Acts 15-18 we follow “The Second Missionary Journey.”
Because of Paul and Barnabas’s separation they could now cover a wider area than before. Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus. Paul and Silas went through Syria and Cilicia strengthening and encouraging the churches there.
Afterward they thought to go into Asia, or to Bithynia, but the Holy Spirit closed those doors to them. Then they were shown that they were needed in Macedonia. As before, some rejoiced to hear the gospel, others were angered and bitterly opposed them, but through it all Paul and Silas remained faithful, singing, praying and praising God even after being beaten and placed in stocks in the inner prison at Philippi.
From there the Holy Spirit led them to Thessalonica, Berea, Athens and Corinth, where Paul was encouraged through a vision to continue his work “for I have many people in this city.”
May we follow the Holy Spirit’s leading as faithfully as they did. Study texts are Acts 15:36-41; 16; 17; 18:1-23; 1 Corinthians 1:23,24 and Galatians 2:16-3:1.
Worship service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at both churches. Midweek service is on Tuesday at 7:30 at the Maranatha church and Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee Church.
We welcome you to join us as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
St. Michael Catholic Church - Henryetta
22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
(Deut. 4: 1-2, 6-6/James 1: 17-18, 21-27/Mk. 7: 1-8, 14-15, 22-27) The Pharisees were mainly concerned with external, so that their worship of God became a matter of outward show. They pay attention too much outside. They keep Moses Laws very strictly. They gave God the service of their lips, but their hearts were far from him. We sometimes do the same! The danger faces us all, mere externalism. We are about to begin our great weekly act of worship. Are we going to worship God with our hearts or with our lips only? Today’s Gospel helps us to feed back our lives about worshiping God.
At first hearing, today’s gospel sounds like a scene from a family dinner table. How many parents have asked their children as they sat down to eat, “Did you wash your hands?” The Pharisee had observed some of the disciples of Jesus eating meals without having washed their hands. Their concern, however, was not with hygiene but with religious practice. Originally, symbolic purification had been concerned with the Jewish liturgy, somewhat after the present practice of the priest washing his hands during the Mass. By custom over the centuries, that ritual washing was extended to circumstances of everyday life, and in the minds of people like the Pharisees had taken on an importance out of all proportion to the value of the act.
There was nothing wrong with the Jewish purification rule, but Jesus saw the Pharisees’ insincerity in citing the rule to him. They complained not because they loved God, but because they were out to “get” Jesus, whom they saw as a threat to their personal security. So they plotted to get rid of him.
It is our heart that Jesus is concerned about. The whole life of a Christian has to be an affair of the heart. Our Christian life involves constant purification of our hearts, ongoing conversion, and ever-growing intimacy with God. It is when we stop growing in love for God and concern for the poor and become satisfied with our religious “condition” and observance that we are in danger of withering and dying.
Let us be sincere when we come to God. For He is only our Savior and Redeemer.
Sunday Mass: 11 a.m.

Battle Cry By Mary Beth Morris
Our Lord and our God, you are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector. You are the rock where I am safe. You are my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter. You rescue me and keep me safe from violence. I praise you, our Lord! I prayed to you, and you rescued me from my enemies. 2 Samuel 22:2-4
These words begin a song of praise by David. It was sung after he'd been saved from his enemies, including King Saul. It's a song of greatest beauty and highest praise, and can lift up from the depths of despair any who read it. The few verses following have the power to give inspiration and peace.
I was in terrible trouble when I called out to you, but from your temple you heard me and answered my prayer. (v 7) ... You reached down from heaven, and you lifted me from deep in the ocean. You rescued me from enemies who were hateful and too powerful for me. On the day disaster struck, they came and attacked, but you defended me. When I was fenced in, you freed and rescued me because you love me. (v 17-20) ... You are always loyal to your loyal people, and you are faithful to the faithful. With all who are sincere you are sincere, but you treat the unfaithful as their deeds deserve. You rescue the humble, but you look for ways to put down the proud. Our Lord and God, you are my lamp. You turn darkness to light. (v 26-29) ... You alone are God! Only you are a mighty rock. You are my strong fortress, and you set me free. (v 32-33) ... You are the living Lord! I will praise you! You are a mighty rock. I will honor you for keeping me safe. (v 47)
Did you notice that David's theme is not on himself, but upon God? David doesn't begin and end every thought with “T.” What we can take away from this is, although we all face battles and will have enemies who seek to destroy us, our focus should lie above the horizon, wherein lies our strength, our shield, our refuge. Seek the Lord, and He will always save us.
Cornerstone: A Place to See Jesus
Every CF Sunday starts by opening doors for you to encounter a safe place for a “fresh start”, as guest speaker, Kim Pitner, reminded us last week. “Cornerstone Foursquare (CF) is just that—a place of HOPE and new beginnings,” says Mickey Baldwin, lead pastor at CF. We find that people have been coming to Cornerstone to discover a new start. A new way of living and as Pastor Mickey says, “What concerns you, concerns God!” So, today let’s set in motion a new thought, one found in God’s Word that will bring us to real life in the midst of our pain, habits, and mental hang ups that tend to hold us back from God’s extraordinary life. Pastor Mickey says, “God’s Word has what we need. We can trust and expect a fresh new beginning. Jesus said in John 14:27, ‘I am leaving you with a a gift—peace of mind and heart...a peace this world cannot give.’ Come and find that peace this weekend.”
Join us this coming Sunday for another amazing CF Sunday where Church isn’t just fun, but an empowered time of HOPE and HEALING.
