Henryetta High School’s cross country team had a successful season opener at the Seminole Invitational Cross Country Meet Aug. 25. The boys cross country varsity out paced their opponents, running home with fifth place overall in the two mile run. The Knights earned a score of 165 coming in behind Herrah High School who earned an overall score of 138 in the two mile run. The total time for the boys two mile run came to 1 hour 10 minutes and 22 seconds, with the average mile pace clocking in at 7 minutes and 2.2 seconds. Keaton Lollis was the highest ranking Knight in the boys two mile run, taking 23rd place out of 93 other runners. Lollis clocked in with a two mile time of 12:41.6 and a mile pace of 6:20.8. Austin Green came in right behind Lollis taking 29th place with a two mile time of 13:03.6 and a pace time of 6:31.8.
The Lady Knights had a tougher time breaking through the middle of the pack in the girls varsity one mile run. Lady Knights Bayleigh Nye and Alyssa Collett took home 28th and 29th place. Nye came in right before Collett with a mile run of 7:14.9 minutes and Collett came in barely a few seconds behind with a time of 7:14.9.
Joslyn Stidman represented Henreytta Middle School well beating Prague Junior High runner Kylie Peltier for eighth place. Stidman outpaced her opponent by a margin of three seconds, earning a time of 7:06.5 in the girls junior high one mile run.
The boys junior high team also knocked it out of the park earning fourth place overall in the boys junior high one mile run. Henryetta Middle School earned a score of 99 and a overall time of 35:08, coming in behind Harrah Middle School, who totaled a score of 81 points and an overall time of 34:26. Jack Caywood took eighth place in the one mile with a time of 6:25.4, outrunning Prague’s junior high runner William Soler, who came in at 6:26.5, by one second.
