Nothing beats good conversation and friendly faces and a great atmosphere when you want to get a haircut in Henryetta.

Main Barber Shop in Henryetta is just the place to go.

Owner Sherman Leeth has operated the business for 28 years at its current location. He said it is the oldest shop in town, dating back to the 1920’s.

Before becoming a barber, Sherman was in construction, was a brick layer and also a church pastor.

“There are a lot of good folks and nice people that come to the shop,” Sherman said.

Some of Sherman’s loyal adult customers have been getting a haircut from him since they were children.

Working closely with Sherman is Gail Stehwein who has been employed at Main Barber for 12 years. She has been a hairdresser and barber for the past 30 years. Throughout the years, she has worked various jobs in Henryetta, but she absolutely loves what she does now.

“Come in and visit us for a great haircut and good conversation! We love kids and we have a lot of great customers,” Gail said.

Also employed at Main Barber for the past year is Kenberly Chasteen who said that Sherman and Gail are like family. Kenberly was previously employed at Walmart in Okmulgee for 10 years.

“I’m honored to work with Gail and Sherman. This is a tight-knit community and I enjoy working here,” she said.

While doing this interview, Gail asked if I had seen the Sherman “moonwalk” video and she suggested I view it on the shop’s Facebook page at: Facebook.com/HenryettaMainBarber. After viewing the video, Sherman definitely leaves a lasting and positive impression. He is friendly, funny and very dedicated to his customers and the community.

I was honored to be able to visit with Sherman, Gail and Kenberly on Thursday morning. Visiting with them is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

Main Barber offers haircuts, clips, layers, business cuts for men, flat tops, crew cuts, fades, neck shaves, eyebrow trims, first haircuts for babies with first haircut certificates, blow-dry styles, women’s haircuts and blow dry.

Open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, Main Barber is located at 314 West Main in Henryetta. You can contact the shop at 918-652-2063.

According to Facebook reviews and ratings, Main Barber has received “5 Stars.”

Some of the posted reviews read: “Favorite people and place for a haircut in Henryetta! Often a lively debate going on!” posted Patricia Thompson Vaughn. “Great haircut for a good price! Sherman tells some of the best fishing stories on this side of the Mississippi,” posted Seth Dustin Hamric.

Main Barber is just one of the many outstanding businesses in Henryetta that makes this a great place to live, work and visit!

So, if you or your children need a haircut or other haircare - stop by and see Sherman, Gail and Kenberly, you’ll be happy you did!
