Lions announce pancake breakfast

Henryetta Lions Club held their regular weekly meeting on Aug. 21 at The Shack on Main Street in Henryetta. Lions members discussed the pancake breakfast benefit and decided to schedule

Henryetta Lions Club held their regular weekly meeting on Aug. 21 at The Shack on Main Street in Henryetta.

Lions members discussed the pancake breakfast benefit and decided to schedule it for the same day as the next Cruise Knight - Saturday, Oct. 13. Event locations are being considered and will be announced at an upcoming meeting. “The key to success for the event is advances sales,” member Donnie Smith said.

Tickets for the pancake breakfast plan to be available and go on sale within the next week or two.

Tail Twister Ashley Morris presented a glass jar filled with golf tees and miniature candy bars. She asked members to guess how many actual pieces there were total in the jar. After a quick tally, the winning guess, 99 items, came from Donnie Smith. The actual number of items was 106. Morris presented Smith with the jar and its contents for being the winner.

In the Sunshine Report, Carol Londagrin announced that she recently started her final semestery at NSU before she receives her CPA license. And it was announced that Mary Warden’s grandson, Sammy, recently had his tonsils removed and the surgery went well.

Lions members approved minutes of the previous Aug. 14 meeting.

For next week’s program, Ron McAfee hopes to present guest speaker Ron Casey, who works for the City of Henryetta.

Ashley Morris announced that the Yard of the Month Committee needs nominations. Nominations can be turned in to Ashley or Staci Alsover at the First Family Federal Credit Union, to Tara Matthews or to Tracy Goza at the Henryetta Free-Lance.

Next meeting of the Henryetta Lions Club will be Tuesday, Aug. 28 at noon at The Shack.
