Get out and make your vote count at the Runoff Primary Election on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Polls will be open at precincts all over Okmulgee County from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Democrat voters will decide on either Blake Cummings or Ashley Nicole McCray for Corporation Commissioner and either Clay Padget or Jason Nichols for U.S. Representative for District 2.
Rex L. Lawhorn and Chris Powell are on the Libertarian ballot for Governor.
Republicans will have a lengthy ballot to choose from the following State Officers: Kevin Stitt or Mick Cornett for Governor; Matt Pinnell or Dana Murphy for Lt. Governor; Charlie Prater or Cindy Byrd for State Auditor and Inspector; Gentner Drummond or Mike Hunter for Attorney General; Linda Murphy or Joy Hofmeister for Superintendent of Public Instruction; Leslie Osborn or Cathy Costello for Commissioner of Labor and Brian Bingman or Bob Anthony for Corporation Commissioner.
Morris residents are faced with approving or disapproving two City of Morris Propositions.
Proposition No. 1 states “Shall the Clerk, Treasurer, Clerk/Treasurer be appointed by the Mayor, with approval of the Council?”
Proposition No. 2 states “Shall we reduce the current number of city council member seats from eight (8) to four
(4), which would include one (1) council member per ward, effective in the general election year of 2021 and set terms of current council members set to expire in 2019 to extend to 2021?”
Morris Public Schools Independent School District No. 3 voters will decide on one proposition on Tuesday.
The proposition reads, “Shall Independent School District Number 3 of Okmulgee, County, Oklahoma, incur an indebtedness by issuing its bonds in the sum of Four Million Six Hundred Eighty Five Thousand Dollars ($4,685,000) to provide funds to be issued in series for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites and levy and collect an annual tax, in addition to all other taxes, upon all the taxable property in such District sufficient to pay the interest on such bonds as it falls due and also to constitute a sinking fund for the payment of the principal thereof when due, said bonds to bear interest not to exceed the rate of ten (10%) percentum per annum, payable semi-annually and to become due serially within ten (10) years from their date?”
