Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) Trooper Dakota Bunch reported a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 7 at 10:21 a.m. on Hwy. 75 and Hectorville Road, about seven miles north of Beggs.
According to the accident report, a 2007 Dodge Caravan, driven by 66-year-old Mounds resident Vickie Lynn was westbound on Hectorville Road when she pulled out in front of a 2008 Toyota Sienna driven by 36-year-old Lakesha Ramsey of Boley. Lynn struck the Toyota in the rear driver door and departed the roadway to the left. The Toyota caught on fire and was completely burned.
Lynn was transported by Okmulgee County EMS to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with head, trunk external, trunk internal and arm injuries where she was admitted in stable condition.
Ramsey as well as her six passengers were not injured.
Passengers included 32-year-old Brandon Gunns, 60-year-old Bobby Shackleford, 53-year-old James Sanders, 51-year-old Bobby Helms, 38-year-old Bobby Dyer and 21-year-old Destiny Neal, all of Okemah.
Trooper Bunch reported that seatbelts were equipped and in use by both drivers and all passengers. Condition of Lynn was reported to be “apparently normal.”
Cause of the collision was Failure to Yield from Stop Sign.
Weather conditions were rainy and the roadway was wet.
