The Henryetta Lady Knight fastpitch softball team will find themselves traveling for most of the 2018 season. The Lady Knights will have only five home dates in 2018, spending the remainder of the campaign on a school bus, traveling to other high schools in the state of Oklahoma. The first three road trips for Henryetta squad in 2018 will be a total of 61 miles with the Lady Knights not leaving Okmulgee County. The Lady Knights' 2018 season will get started Monday at 5:45 p.m. in Preston against the Preston Lady Pirates. Preston is the alma mater of new Henryetta softball coach Ryan Swallow, who graduated from Preston High School in May of 2002. Following the season opener at Preston, the Henryetta diamond squad will travel to Okmulgee on Tuesday for a county showdown with the host Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs, who will also introduce a new head coach in 2018. Tuesday's county battle with Okmulgee is scheduled to get started at 5:45 p.m. The Lady Knights' third trip to Okmulgee County to begin 2018 will be Beggs next Friday and Saturday for the annual Beggs Softball Festival. The Henryetta diamond squad will open the home portion of their regular-season schedule August 13 against the Eufaula Lady Ironheads, then it's back on the road for the Lady Knights with a road game at Eufaula August 16 and the Kellyville Festival in Sapulpa August 17 and 18. On August 20, the Lady Knights will welcome the Oktaha Lady Tigers to town, then, once again, it's back on the road for two-straight dates - August 23 and 24 - at Kellyville and Morris, respectively. The following week will see the Henryetta ladies at home for two-straight games, hosting Morris August 27 and Sperry on August 28. The Lady Knights will end August and begin September at the Eufaula Tournament. The annual softball tournament is scheduled to take place August 30-September 1. Three more road games - September 4 at Oktaha, September 6-8 at the Southwest Shootout in Sterling, and September 10 at Wetumka - will follow Henryetta's participation at the Eufaula Tournament. The final home game for the Lady Knights in 2018 will be September 11 when Henryetta plays host to Swallow's former team, the Beggs Lady Demons, in a county showdown. The regular-season schedule for the Henryetta soft-ballers will see trips to Tahlequah September 13-15 for the Tahlequah Sequoyah Tournament, Beggs September 17 for a rematch with the Lady Demons, and Warner September 20. The Lady Knights' postseason will be a little different in 2018 with Class 3A being one of five classes to feature districts in the 2018 season. The Henryetta squad will be placed in District 3A-6 with Beggs, Eufaula, Morris, Oktaha, Sperry, and Victory Christian. In order for the Lady Knights to compete in the postseason, they will need to finish in the Top 4 in their district.
