You’re invited...
On Saturday, July 28, 2018, between 2-4 pm, the family of Florene (Minyard) Thomas will be hosting her 100th Birthday Celebration at The Dewar Indian Community Center at 903 E Sixth Street (Hwy 266), Dewar, OK.
The family would love to extend an invitation to all the former customers of Thomas Grocery, which was located at 102 E May Street in Henryetta, and anyone who would like to come and visit with her and her family.
Mrs. Thomas owned and operated Thomas Grocery with her late husband David from 1957 until 1989. She also worked as a hostess for the Henryetta Territorial Museum until November 2004 at age 86, when a broken hip prevented her from working. She enjoyed giving tours and greeting the public. She would enjoy visiting with all her past clientele who would stop in for Cake and Ice Cream.
David & Florene raised their family with a strong work ethic centered on God’s Word. They attended 1st Assembly of God in Henryetta faithfully where Florene was the Sunday School Secretary. Both were devoted Sunday School Teachers and Florene in her younger years would teach lessons to people who could not make it to church. They helped raise money to build the current church building and David drove the dozer to level the building site. After selling the family business, Florene formed the Quilting Club and enjoyed her time with fellow quilters in the fellowship hall at church.
God and family were always rst
with The Thomas’, together they raised 4 children, Doyal Thomas, Ron Thomas, Gaye (Thomas) Newton, & DeRhonda (Thomas) Andrews. They have 9 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren.
As a family we are so excited to celebrate 100 years with our mom. This is something few people get to see. Please stop by on Saturday, July 28, 2018 and help us sing Happy Birthday to Florene.
