Oklahoma Sales Tax Holiday returns this year just in time for Back-To-School shopping Friday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 5, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC).
The holiday officially begins that Friday at 12:01 a.m. and ends on Sunday at 12 midnight.
During the time period, certain clothing and shoe purchases are exempt from sales tax. In order to qualify for the exemption, the total cost an item purchased must not exceed $99.99 each. For example, imagine you purchase three shirts that are $55.00 each. All three of those items will qualify for the exemption, even though the total purchase price ($165.00) exceeds the $99.99 limit.
Qualified items are exempt from state, city, county and local municipality sales taxes.
All retailers are required to participate and may not collect state and local sales or use tax on most footwear and clothing that are sold for less than $100 during the holiday, OTC announced.
