Second Baptist Church
We, at Second Baptist Church, are excited about God’s work in people’s lives. After a week of Vacation Bible School, we have eight church members getting ready to go to St. Louis, Mo. on a mission trip with our association. Two of our members recently returned from a mission trip to Barbuda and a young lady is going to serve a few months in Lima, Peru when she is finished working at Falls Creek.
We would like to invite you to come worship with us if you do not have a church home or are visiting Okmulgee. If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ we can help you to know for sure where you will spend eternity.
Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. with classes for every age group, then at 10:45 a.m. we begin our music worship time led by Renee Dove. After the music worship, Bro. Steve Gallagher will bring a special message that God has placed on his heart. Although Sunday, July 22nd, in Bro. Steve’s absence, we will welcome Troy Caudle as a guest preacher.

St. Michael Catholic Church
16th Sunday
(Jer. 23: 1-6/Eph. 2: 13-18/Mk. 6: 30-34)
Mark’s Gospel today tells us how Christ Jesus cared about people as a good shepherd cares for his sleep. How do we know? Because he put himself out for them. Every Christian ought to be a person who cares about others in many different ways, share the good news, help each other, comfort people…We sometimes tell people that we care about them yet we fail to show it by our deeds.
If you have chances to read about Mother Teresa’s life, she talked a lot about poverty, and she should know about it, for she has spent most of her life working for the destitute. But her definition of poverty is different. Material poverty is the only poverty most people are aware of. But Mother Teresa said that there was a worse form of poverty than that. It is to be lonely, unloved, and unwanted. Thus it is possible to be materially well off, and yet be among the poorest of the poor!
Today there are lots of people in our world who are like sheep without a shepherd. Such people are very vulnerable. Those who are unable to think for themselves are very vulnerable and can so easily be led astray. But the most vulnerable of all are those who are unloved and unwanted. Those who have no goal or aim in life, and for whom life is therefore meaningless. We think especially of certain young people who have known non love at home and who have little possibility of worthwhile employment. Such people will soon end up locked away in prison unless someone takes an interest in them. The Christian community should be alert to them and their needs.
Of course we could not do all things in the world. But we try to do at least small things around our area. Let us pray for people who have really lost their hope first, then we try to do the best for them as Jesus asking each of us to share something to others. For in some way we can say that we have been blessed than others especially for the unloved and unwanted.

Sowing By Mary Beth Morris
"Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful." (Mark 4:18-19)
This parable that Jesus told His followers concerned sowing seeds. Of course, Jesus wasn't speaking in literal terms, but seeds of faith -- the ones we're supposed to be sowing, if we've taken on the mantle of disciples.
There are times I have grown leaf mustard. I'd get the bed all ready, then "broadcast" the seeds, tossing little handfuls across the dirt. It takes only a tiny bit of raking to cover those little seeds. Then, carefully watering them so they didn't wash away, I'd wait.
Now the seed packet had hundreds of seeds, and for each seed, you'd expect a plant. But that's not exactly how this works. There's one for you, one (or more!) for the birds, one that lies dormant for a year, and one to die. In essence, the actual yield is much less than the expected one.
The same is true of our scattering the seeds of our faith. If we're throwing them out there like we should, we will produce a crop. Unfortunately, there are some who don't stay quite as excited about the Lord.
But why is that? Aren't we the gardeners? Shouldn't we be attending our plants? That is, are we following up on our seedlings? Staying in close contact, inviting them to attend prayer meetings, having them over or meeting them for a meal or coffee -- these strengthen the bonds of gardener and seedling. IF YOU ARE THE SOWER, YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO YOUR GARDEN!!!
We may not even see the fruits of our labor, but that's not what this is about. We work FOR THE LORD, not for ourselves. We continue to strive, regardless of the stones and weeds that try to choke us out. It is only by God's grace that we are still here. Make that grace count for something besides sitting in a pew. Work as though every single mustard seed will sprout and grow as tall as a tree.

Cornerstone: A Place to Encounter God
Join us this CF Sunday where an encountering God changes everything! Mickey Baldwin, lead pastor will continue our Summer Bible Series titled, “Running with Giants”. As we have discovered the impact of Noah (One man can make a difference) and David (You are exalted by submitting to authority) —this week Pastor Baldwin will help us encounter God through the encouraging words and life of Isaiah who was known as a prophet. Pastor Baldwin states, “God wants to reveal more of himself to you and as Isaiah heard God, you can too hear from God. Remember that ‘Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God’. Cornerstone is that place where you can easily hear the Word of God without intimidation. Come and discover the encouraging words of Isaiah that will help you run your life’s journey.”
Be our guest this week for another CF Sunday and you will have opportunity to discover Hope while you connect with God and connect with His people. People who are just like you in so many ways. People whom God has removed their past and redeemed their future.
Pastor Mickey concludes saying, “This weekend is Friend Day, and even if you don’t feel friendly—come and experience the peace associated in an encounter with Jesus Christ. Bring your hurts, habits, and hang-ups for your greatest PAIN could be your catalyst to find your greatest GAIN. Start this weekend to discover a clearer view of a life in Christ.
