July 18th, 1954 is the birth date of Felicia Bond, American writer and illustrator of children’s books. We have one of her (B-2 Board) books: Tumble Bumble; and two books she illustrated: If You Give a Dog a Donut by Laura Joffe Numeroff; (B-2) Mama’s Secret by Maria Polushkin.
July 20th is National Lollipop Day. Even though lollipops are made of hardened sugar, corn syrup and added flavoring the original lollipops were said to be made in the early 1900s by George Smith and were soft rather than hard. George named them after a famous race horse, Lolly Pop.
