Bible study, July 7, 9:30 a.m.
William Paroschi, Professor of New Testament interpretation at Brazil Adventist University, is the author of our new series of studies this quarter in “The Book of Acts,” which is the account of the apostles’ missionary endeavors over three crucial decades. The achievements of the early church were not the result of human wisdom or ability, but are a perpetual testimony of what God can do through humble, praying men and women who let themselves be used by the Holy Spirit for God’s honor and glory.
The title of our first study is “You will be my witnesses.” Because the first century Jews were looking for a political savior instead of a sacrificial “lamb,” they simply could not understand what Jesus meant when He spoke of His suffering, death and resurrection.
The burden of the apostles was to clear up this confusion and to show, from Old Testament scripture, which was all they had, and from their personal experience with Jesus, that Jesus was and is the Christ, the Messiah.
Our mission to day is much the same: to seek to make God’s Word plain, and to call the masses to come out of Babylon, (confusion), into His glorious light.
Study texts are Luke 24:13-27 & 44-48; Acts 1:3-26; 2:32,33 and Revelation 18:1-5.
Worship service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at both churches. Midweek service is on Tuesday at 7:30 at the Maranatha church andThursday at 6 p.m. at the Okmulgee Church.
We welcome you to join us as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
