An arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a Henryetta man, Addison ‘Add’Waddell.
On Tuesday, the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office leveled charges of Homicide-Murder in the First Degree against Nacole ‘Nikki’ Bain.
Officers first began to look for Bain in connection to the disappearance of Waddell and apprehended her on Saturday, June 30.
After questioning, Bain confessed to officers in the early hours of July 2, stating that she had shot Waddell in the head.
Search warrants executed by the Violent Crimes Task Force revealed evidence that suggested that the crime had taken place inside Waddell’s residence.
The case was first reported to the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s as a missing person. Waddell had not been seen or heard from since Sunday, June 24 and, according to court records, Bain, who had been living with Waddell at the time, was the last person to see him.
Waddell was supposed to be traveling to see family in North Carolina but had failed to arrive. His vehicle was found wrecked and abandoned in south Okmulgee County.
Officers quickly began looking for Bain in order to question her about Waddell’s disappearance.
Bain was contacted on June 29 by Investigator Jeremy Wade, court documents state. Bain was traveling back from Amarillo, Texas and stated that she would be willing to submit for an interview.
After failing to arrive for questioning, the public was asked to help look for Bain.
A call came in on June 30, stating that Bain was seen at a storage unit in Weleetka. Court documents state that the items Bain was selling were believed to belong to Waddell.
Investigator Swayze was able to locate Bain at the storage unit and arrested her for outstanding warrants. Swayze then transported her back to the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
During the interview, Bain told officers that Waddell was traveling out of county to visit either friends or family. However, when officers asked how Waddell would be traveling since his only car was found wrecked in Henryetta, she could not explain.
“Ms. Bain admitted to stealing numerous items of Mr. Waddell’s personal property, stating that she felt she was ‘owed’ it,” Investigator Swayze said in the probable cause affidavit. “Ms. Bain admitted to investigators that she was driving the truck belonging to Mr. Waddell over the course of the last week and using it and a trailer of Mr. Waddell’s to remove items from his residence to other locations and that she had wrecked the pickup at some point.”
During the interview, Bain provided investigators conflicting statements about whether or not she had seen a violent crime take place. Initially she denied knowing of a crime taking place in the bedroom, but would later recant.
At her request, Bain would later be brought back to the sheriff’s office on July 2 where she would confess to shooting Waddell.
Bain is being held without bond and her initial appearance before Judge Pandee Ramirez is set for Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m.
On Tuesday, the OCSO received a tip that a landowner in the area of Gun Club and 330 Rd had possibly located human remains.
Investigators did identify human remains at the location and those remains were turned over the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification, which has not yet been made.
There is still an ongoing investigation into the case. If anyone has further information, contact the OCSO at 918-756-4311 or the Tip Line at 918-516-8332.
