The Henryetta Wrestling Club will travel to Oklahoma City this weekend to compete in the USJNC & USJOC Novice/Open tournament. The event will get underway on Friday morning and will continue through Saturday evening.
This weekend's OKC tournament will feature over 2,000 participants in USJNC, USJOC, AND USgirls divisions.
On December 17, the HWC wrestlers competed in the Tulsa Novice/Open Battle for the Belt tournament where the champion in each division earned a wrestling championship belt.
At this weekend's OKC event, the champion in each division will be awarded a championship ring.
Last Saturday, the Henryetta Wrestling Club traveled to Skiatook to compete in the Skiatook Bulldog Novice/Open event at Skiatook High School.
The HWC sent 25 members to the event with 16 coming away with Top 4 finishes, including three first-place finishers.
One HWC wrestler managed to come away with two plaques from the Skiatook tournament. Tucker Watson finished third in the Division 4, 73-pound weight class, then battled his way to a third-place finish in the Division 5, 80-pound weight class later in the tournament.
Tayzen Cummings (Division 3 - 120 lbs.) and Issac McNac (Division 4 - 140 lbs.) took home the top award in their respective divisions at the Skiatook tournament.
One other member, Madison Byroads, came away with a first-place finish at last Saturday's event. Byroads took home the top award in the Girls 12 and Under division, capturing gold in the 120-pound weight class.
